We run unique events for subsurface professionals — especially courses, hackathons, and unconferences. Our public events get a decent amount of attention from the professional societies and the community at large. We also blog extensively about our events; the blog gets about 18,000 pageviews and 7,500 unique visitors per month at the moment (2018).
Hackathons rely on sponsors, it's as simple as that. The hackers are giving their time, and almost all of what they make, to the community. They need coffee, pizza, Wi-Fi, and somewhere to sit... and that's where the sponsors come in.
What's in it for you?
If you're an oil & gas or energy company, you have the chance to help steer the event — you can provide high-value business problems, and maybe even data and tools to help attack them. You can send mentors who understand the business environment, or judges to help find the highest value solutions.
If you're a technology company, think about how a roomful of coder-scientists can help you develop and explore your product space. In return for your support, our event offers you a unique window into real-world scientific computing and problem solving.
Sponsorship of our events offers enhancement to your reputation as a fearless champion of the future. And you get a weekend of access to the most creative and talented quantitative geoscientists in the world, and the chance to mentor the teams and be among the first to see the software they create.
