Matt Hall, PhD

Matt has a PhD in sedimentology (Manchester, UK), and 25 years’ experience in the energy industry. He has worked for Statoil, Landmark, and ConocoPhillips as a geophysical advisor. Matt has written various articles, talks, and book chapters, and edited 3 books. He founded Agile in 2010 as a small but perfectly formed scientific computing company.

Evan Bianco, MSc

Evan has a Master’s degree in geophysics from the University of Alberta, Canada, and ten years’ experience as an industry consultant in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Evan's interests span a range of disciplines, from time-lapse seismic in oil sands to integrated interpretation, geomodelling, and cartography.

Martin Bentley, MSc

Martin has a Master’s degree in geology from the Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. His MSc looked at modelling of onshore igneous intrusions using aeromagnetic data, but areas of interest generally include engineering geology, mining, geological mapping, education (especially of geoscience), geospatial things, and open data. Martin has been programming in Python for 5 years, and has taught many classes with Agile since 2020.

Kara Turner, MSc

Kara has a Master's degree in physical geography from the University of Durham, UK. She is the managing editor of Agile Libre, Agile's publishing imprint. She has 20 years' experience in publishing, having previously managed geography titles at Reed Elsevier in London, production at Sandviks Bokforlag in Norway, editorial at Weigl in Calgary, and again at Altitude in Canmore, Alberta.
